The History of Trina Solar

Founded in 1997, right before the global solar boom, Trina Solar has long been regarded as one of the top 5 global solar manufacturers operating today. 

For the company’s first ten years in operation, Trina focused purely on developing their crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules and system integration technologies. Their successes ultimately led to Trina Solar being listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2006. Since going public, Trina Solar continues to specialise in the manufacture of crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules as well as ingots, silicon wafers and solar cells, providing their solar panels to consumer markets across the globe alongside taking on corporate projects for transnational clients and even government facilities. 

Alongside their longevity, Trina Solar has also been recognised for their unwavering high standards. Most recently, Trina Solar has scored 100% in the Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) Bankability Survey for seven consecutive years. This makes Trina one of the world’s most bankable solar companies, right alongside other global giants like Canadian Solar.

Trina Solar maintained a total shipment volume in 2014 of 3.66 GW, with their export figures growing exponentially upon their entering European, North American, and APAC markets. As of 2018, Trina Solar has also installed more than 5 GW of solar power plants around the world. Trina Solar is not only a pioneer of China’s PV industry, but has become an influential shaper of the global solar industry and a leader in solar modules, solutions and services.
